Gurpreet Singh Sarin is ‘The Turbanator’

Gurpreet Singh Sarin is a Sikh individual who auditioned for American Idol and has quickly been dubbed The Turbanator and the Sikh community celebrates another Sardar in mainstream culture.

Gurpreet Singh Sarin wears his turban proud and carefully coordinates the ode to Sikhism to his outfits allowing media to see it is trendy and not a sign of politics.

Sarin is not the image of a pop star we are used to, but his incredible voice has gotten him quite far in the American Idol competition as a top 40 contestant in Season 12. The show has gotten Gurpreet Singh Sarin name on the scene and we expect this will open a slew of doors for this Sardar.

Gurpreet Singh Sarin: Before American Idol

Sarin graduated from Wootton High School before heading to the University of Maryland (Baltimore County). He spent three years of college majoring in computer and information science. He then took a semester off for a Department of Defense internship. This was the time he went to audition for American Idol.
